BANKSY hits LA with his public gallery BARELY LEGAL. this was his first public event, and he did it big time in LA!

what's cooler?

I WENT! .. and it was one of the coolest things i've ever seen. surrounded by my favorite artist's work. the gallery was in a warehouse in LA, and it was pretty hard to figure out where it was because there was no real address given, and the location was revealed on the day of the opening.

This was all that we got.

And here was the plan, thanks to Google Maps.

It was the best, pictures will be coming soon so stay tuned, i took LOADS.
thanks to the sister for taking me!

and for anyone who is not familiar with banksy, or his art, you really need to check it out at his site, and trust me you will not be disappointed. He is brilliant.

mos def? not anymore.

Mos Def apparently made an "illegal" performance in front of the VMAs when he rolled up in his truck and performed on the street without a license to do so. He was singing "Katrina Clap", his song about Katrina and Bush's reaction to it. So this is what happened .. the police took him off the stage and arrested him.

Props to Mos for this, but he was rightfully arrested because he didn't have a permit. BUT THE REAL STORY about this song is..

"Like where the fuck is Sir Bono and his famous friends now,
Don’t get it twisted man I dig U2,
But if you aint about the ghetto, Then Fuck You Too"

This line about Bono and U2 is the stupidest line i've ever heard. i lost all respect for Mos Def, and really this little stunt he pulled means nothing if he's giving that kind of message.

Bono has done more than he ever will.
Mos Def is not Mos Def anymore.

no one is more genius than Banksy. seriously how much better can this get. Banksy took Paris Hilton albums, totally redid them, new tracks, new covers.. Paris Hilton got PUNKED! this is genius. check it out..

wake up

""You can't fight city hall." "Death and taxes." "Don't talk about politics or religion." This is all the equivalent of enemy propaganda, rolling across the picket line. "Lay down, GI! Lay down, GI!". We saw it all through the 20th Century. And now on the 21st Century, it's time to stand up and realize, that we should NOT allow ourselves to be crammed into this rat maze. We should not SUBMIT to dehumanization. I don't know about you, but I'm concerned with what's happening in this world. I'm concerned with the structure. I'm concerned with the systems of control. Those that control my life, and those that seek to control it EVEN MORE! I want FREEDOM! That's what I want, and that's what YOU should want! It's up to each and every one of us to turn loose of just some of the greed, the hatred, the envy, and yes, the insecurities, because that is the central mode of control, make us feel pathetic, small, so we'll willingly give up our sovereignty, our liberty, our destiny. We have GOT to realize we're being conditioned on a mass scale. Start challenging this corporate slave state! The 21st Century's gonna be a new century! Not the century of slavery, not the century of lies and issues of no significance, of classism and statism, and all the rest of the modes of control... it's gonna be the age of humankind, standing up for something PURE and something RIGHT! What a bunch of garbage, liberal, Democratic, conservative, Republican, it's all there to control you, two sides of the same coin! Two management teams, bidding for control of the CEO job of Slavery Incorporated! The TRUTH is out there in front of you, but they lay out this buffet of LIES! I'm SICK of it, and I'M NOT GONNA TAKE A BITE OUT OF IT! DO YA GOT ME? Resistance is NOT futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, WE'RE NOT A BUNCH OF UNDERACHIEVERS, WE'RE GONNA STAND UP, AND WE'RE GONNA BE HUMAN BEINGS! WE'RE GONNA GET FIRED UP ABOUT THE REAL THINGS, THE THINGS THAT MATTER - CREATIVITY, AND THE *DYNAMIC* *HUMAN* *SPIRIT* THAT REFUSES TO *SUBMIT*! WELL THAT'S IT, that's all I've got to say. It's in your court now." - Alex Jones of the waking life.

all is vanity

must have albums

the two great hip hop albums of the summer have to be Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor and The Roots - Game Theory. This isn't the mainstream crap you hear on your radios, this is real hip hop music.
The Roots really did something different with this one, and speaking of, ?uestlove of The Roots runs some great hiphop forums over at Okayplayer.com.

Lupe Fiasco is different from anything you'll ever hear no doubt. and the album cover is interesting.
